While we are constantly cultivating our network of top-tier executives, the Notch Network, we do not rely exclusively on “who we know” to fulfill clients’ requests. Rather, we quickly assess, based on the situation, the appropriate industry/company background, the functional expertise, and the type of demonstrated success the situation will require of an executive. Our goal is to provide the best possible candidate for every situation, so we view the universe of top executives – not our Rolodex – as our available pool. Because deal situations vary widely, often the right executives are not part of our (or any executive search firms’) database and we source them anew for the situation. Despite this “blank slate” approach, we fulfill client requests very quickly and operate within the time constraints of deal situations. Clients are frequently surprised at how quickly we are able to access just the right executive within days of receiving their mandate.
Over the years, Notch has made pivotal executive introductions supporting hundreds of deal processes, portfolio company situations, and industry explorations. Our network consists of thousands of accomplished CEO-level executives and industry leaders, many of whom have access to proprietary deals and are not accessible through traditional channels.
Executives in the Notch Network have a bias for action and have years of experience at the helms of corporations and divisions in a broad array of industries. Many have firsthand experience with private equity-backed companies.
Notch forms strong long-term relationships with executives and coaches them through the process of working with private equity investors. We provide an initial introduction and continue to work with the executives and investors as the relationship grows to ensure a smooth feedback loop and maximum productivity on both ends. By helping our executives to navigate the sometimes idiosyncratic and unpredictable world of private equity, we pre-empt the friction and miscues that can sometimes cause promising relationships to fall through the cracks. As a result, executives come to rely on Notch as a trusted career advisor and we tend to maintain very strong executive relationships.
